A network TAP is an essential tool that dramatically increases visibility into any company’s network infrastructure and boasts the ability to quickly pinpoint tiny problems before they become major issues.
This week in a recent white paper, network TAP provider VSS Monitoring (News - Alert), revealed that typically an aggregator is put in between network segments and analytical tools as it allows users to much more closely monitor a system, ramps up the tools that can be utilized, and cuts downtime.
But, in certain scenarios negative results can occur after the aggregator is inserted. For example, data can get mixed up after implementing an aggregator into a network which will prompt outages to take place, in addition to link layer visibility being reduced. Some other problems include packet loss, fragmentation, delay, jitter and duplication.
In other news, Avion Systems (News - Alert), a provider of mobile network optimization services, deployed its network TAP solutions at Aexio, a telecommunications software company. By leveraging this new solution, Avion will be able to grow its footprint within the enterprise network tuning optimization market in the country.
Joseph Li, vice president of RF Engineering, Avion Systems said in a statement, "We are thrilled to be working with Aexio and to market its network optimization tools. By combining our collective capabilities and knowledge, we can now offer a broader range of resourcing and solutions to our customers, allowing us to capture significant synergies that will benefit both Avion and Aexio."
Closing out the week, Tektronix Communications (News - Alert) launched its Deep Packet Classification (DPC) solution.
The new offering will enable operators to fully comprehend which services are using the most network bandwidth on a per subscriber basis, allowing them to increase their revenue generating potential. This is vital as over-the-top (OTT) services and applications are constantly introduced to a network which can cause traffic congestion if not closely analyzed.
“Our DPC solution offers the customer insight and depth of network analysis with the ability to capture information on a per-subscriber as well as a per-segment basis, providing operators with the critical information they need to optimize their service mix and to strategically set price points," Freddie Kavanagh, vice president and general manager Applications Solutions Business at Tektronix Communications, said in a statement.
