Let’s take a look at what happened in Network TAP headlines this week.

Entuity (News - Alert) announced the availability of its Entuity 12.5, a network management solution for MSPs in need of organizing their network objects.

According to the report, product includes automated, continual discovery of inventory and topology; configuration monitoring; event alerting and root cause analysis, amongst other features.

“It always makes my job easier when customers can clearly articulate and define the functionality they need to get their jobs done right and their networks running optimally,” said Petr Dvorak, senior product manager, Entuity. “Given the size of our typical customer, whether they are a single enterprise or an MSP managing the infrastructure of many customers, the new advanced views feature will help simplify the way Operations Staff view their domains of responsibility with an eye toward solid future-proof technology and increased operational efficiency.”

In other news, Cisco (News - Alert) Live attendees were the first to the OpManager 9.2 Network Monitoring Platform, a network monitoring software (NMS).

OpManager 9 includes newer features, including agent-based log file monitoring, discovery rule engine, faster discovery, IPAM plug-in, tab customization, just to name a few.

"In the past, high R&D intensive features, such as agent-based log file monitoring or word-class discovery, were only available in expensive frameworks," said Dev Anand, director of product management, NPM division at ManageEngine (News - Alert). "At ManageEngine, our goal is to bring these features to all enterprises irrespective of the business size and nature. We are thrilled to demo all the exciting changes to OpManager at Cisco Live, an event that promises to bring together the industry elite once again this year."

Vineyard Networks, along with Napatech (News - Alert) this week demonstrated a new 10 Gbps Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) enabled platform designed for OEM builders. According to the report, the DPI-enabled platform proves that it is possible to build a high-performance platform and framework that can address customer requirement to capture, analyze and inspect network traffic at speeds up to 40 and 100Gbps.

“We’re talking about full traffic analysis, DPI and full line-rate 10 Gbps application recognition using only four cores on a standard multi-core server,” said Jason Richards, CEO at Vineyard Networks. “We can do full inspection by integrating Napatech intelligent network adapters with our DPI engine, running on a standard Intel (News - Alert)-based server, that can scale on a per-CPU core basis to 40Gbps and beyond, with industry leading application coverage and accuracy.”
