ZTE (News - Alert) Corporation, a global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has recently begun to work on a national 2G/3G wireless network project in Peru with mobile operator Viettel which will improve visibility into networks similar to a network TAP.

During the first phase of the project, ZTE Corporation will build more than 2,000 base-stations, in addition to providing its Uni-RAN solution to Viettel.

This solution includes a series of products based on SDR technology, which enables operators to deploy their networks in a smarter, more efficient way. SDR-built networks can combine multiple modes and evolve to next generation networks seamlessly.

The company will also power operation management services such as its radio network optimization network tool to Viettel. The completed network will then cover all of Peru.

“In 2009, ZTE became Viettel’s first 3G networking equipment supplier in Vietnam,” said Pu Yingchun, GSM/UMTS (News - Alert) product lines general manager, ZTE, in a statement.

“We are excited to help Viettel enter the South American market for the first time and we are confident that this new contract will help it grow further in the region,” Yingchun added.

Thanks to its advanced SDR technology, ZTE has won contracts from many top multinational operators, including: France Telecom, Telefonica (News - Alert), Telenor, Teliasonera, Etisalat, Hutchison, Telstra, KPN, and MTN.

ZTE’s Uni-RAN solutions are key profit drivers for operators. To date, ZTE’s SDR equipment has been used by over 120 operators in more than 100 countries across the globe.

In related news, just this week TMCnet reported that Spectrami, a Dubai-based value added distribution house, will be collaborating in conjunction with Tenable Networks Security to sponsor a technical workshop all about enterprise vulnerability management that will be presented to channel partners spread across the Middle East region. Items to be discussed during the event include how to improve network efficiency using solutions including a network TAP.
