It was a busy week in the Network TAP sector. Here are some of the major stories from TMCnet.
Openet lets cable customers monitor how much broadband is used in a given month. Recently, a large U.S. provider of video, high-speed data and voice services successfully deployed a comprehensive suite of Openet (News - Alert) products.
In another story, Blue Coat says there are a few top sites or applications that are consuming the most bandwidth these days. The top user of bandwidth is the 2012 London Olympics. Blue Coat (News - Alert) says this year’s Olympics is due to set world records for WAN and Internet Bandwidth consumption. YouTube is second on Blue Coat’s list of sites or applications in bandwidth use. More than three billion hours of video are watched each month and 72 hours are uploaded per minute. Apple is high on this list as well with their app store and iCloud.
It was also reported on TMCnet that Aryaka, which specializes in WAN Optimization-as-a-Service, has introduced a new WAN optimization appliance trade-in program for enterprises. It lets them trade in their hardware WAN optimization and have the choice, flexibility and benefits from leveraging Aryaka's (News - Alert) optimized network.
In another story, network tap company VSS Monitoring was acquired by Danaher (News - Alert) and is now a wholly owned subsidiary. It now has a $16-billion parent company behind it, helping things run smoothly and efficiently.
Also, Global eSolutions (Hong Kong) Limited, a provider of trading technology that enables fast trade execution via personal computer and mobile devices, has selected Prolexic’s Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) detection and DDoS protection services.
