Huawei Participates in CableLabs® DOCSIS® Provisioning of EPON 1.0 Interoperability

PLANO, Texas --(Business Wire)--

Huawei (News - Alert), a leader in providing next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today announced that it has participated in a CableLabs (News - Alert)® DPoE™, DOCSIS® Provisioning of EPON, 1.0 interoperability event on January 24-28, 2011. This interop was the first in a series of interoperability events scheduled in 2011.

The DPoE™ 1.0 specification provides cable operators a standard method to provision, manage and operate EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network) products by leveraging their existing back office infrastructure to deliver IP and MEF (News - Alert) based services for business and commercial applications.

By participating in CableLabs® DPoE™ 1.0 interoperability event, Huawei exhibited multi-vendor interoperability on DPoE ONU registration, provisioning, OSS management, software download and config file of DPoE Standalone ONU with IEEE (News - Alert) 802.1ad tagging and DPoE Bridge ONU with transport mode.

"We are pleased to have successfully demonstrated DPoE 1.0 phase interoperability testing of CableLabs," said Charlie Chen, senior vice president of marketing and product management for Huawei North America. "The combination of Huawei's understanding of DPoE™ 1.0 specification and our extensive design capabilities will provide mature, flexible, and compatible solutions for cable operators who are developing leading-edge voice, data, and multimedia services."

The next interoperability event for DPoE products is scheduled to begin on April 11, 2011. Huawei will continuously participate in future DPoE 1.0 interoperability events and devote itself to developing DPoE 1.0 based EPON products to meet cable operators' requirements.
