Searchlight Scientific Unveils Plans to Enter Cloud Computing Marketplace

May 26, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Searchlight Scientific, a wholly owned subsidiary of Searchlight Solutions, announced relevant changes in its business model.

Searchlight Scientific reported it is now concentrating on becoming a next generation data services company focusing on developing and growing cloud based solutions to solve tomorrow's computing challenges.

Cloud computing in general terms is not so much a new technology as it is a new delivery model, but its impact will be enormous. Research firm IDC estimated that worldwide cloud services in 2009 were $17.4 billion, and are forecasted to grow to $44.2 billion in 2013. Even higher projections as per recent findings of the technology research firm Gartner Inc., the global cloud service market is expected to grow substantially with revenue expected to reach $148.8 billion by 2014. The market research firm is of the opinion that the cloud computing market will grow exponentially by 16.6 percent, generating revenues of $68.3 billion in 2010 and reaching $148.8 billion by 2014 from $58.6 billion in 2009. The economies of scale and centralized resources create new security challenges to an already stressed IT infrastructure.

With Searchlight Scientific already possessing the necessary expertise through their subsidiary Linux Labs, it was a prudent decision to reengineer their business model to capture a percentage of this marketplace.

Searchlight Solutions is a technology venture holding company that provides business development and high level management services for early stage technology companies who are pursuing the benefits of the public marketplace.
