General Electric and Foundation Capital to invest in SunRun


Jun 24, 2011 (Datamonitor Financial Deals Tracker via COMTEX) -- General Electric Company (GE), an industrial conglomerate, and its venture capital partner Foundation Capital have agreed to invest in SunRun, Inc., a residential solar financing company that installs and maintains solar energy systems at homes to provide electricity. Both the companies are based in the US.



Concurrently, GE and its venture capital partners are also investing a total of $63 million in nine other companies, which include, Ember Corporation, GMZ Energy, Inc., Hara Software, Inc., Nuventix, Inc., On Ramp Wireless, Inc., Project FROG, Inc., Viridity Energy, Inc., VPhase plc and WiTricity Corporation, as part of its $200 million GE ecomagination Challenge.

GE's venture capital partners include, Emerald Technology Ventures AG, Foundation Capital, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB), RockPort Capital Partners and Carbon Trust Investments Limited.
