Popular Online Payment Merchant Forces U.S Entrepreneur to Lay off Staff, While Still Waiting for Answers

Orlando, FL, Feb 03, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- For Immediate Release Orlando, Florida - It's been a tough few years for Anthony Aires Gomes, a keen-spirited entrepreneur based in Orlando. After becoming a victim of the economy crash and losing millions, suffering a string of family bereavements and going through divorce - he now fears he may have to lay off his staff, through no fault of his own.

After founding a successful real estate tuition company and selling it to one of his students, Anthony launched Prosperity Publishers, LLC - a company dedicated to creating audio and visual resources that inspire entrepreneurs to succeed in both life and business.

However, Anthony's emotional prosperity suffered its own Wall Street-style crash this month when he discovered that PayPal had locked him out of his merchant account: "I literally had an email saying my account was now locked. I called them to find out why and they told me to refer to the email they sent me. No reason was contained within it, and even to this day I am unsure as to why they took the action they did," says Anthony.

Anthony's frustrations were furthered by the fact that PayPal had no formal line of communication for him to use to resolve the account's limitation: "I really do feel like I am being treated like a criminal. PayPal won't make anyone available to directly assist me, and I'm left in a stalemate situation. Frustration doesn't even begin to express how I feel," he adds.

Besides his own feelings of anger, the decision by PayPal presents an even more serious consequence - the layoff of Anthony's U.S-based staff.

"I've spent years building a team of dedicated and professional staff. However, I now have no way to pay them. The only option currently open to me is to terminate their employment - lowering the risk that the business will be forced into bankruptcy," Anthony explains.

Anthony will admit that, upon signing up for PayPal, he was made aware that he was a high risk customer. This decision was based on some credit penalties Anthony faced after losing millions during the financial crisis of 2007-2009. However, Anthony makes it clear that he compensated PayPal for this by paying some advanced fees to cover the risk.

In all, Anthony is both disappointed and stunned by the way the situation has unfolded: "Right now, the country needs to be focused on building core-businesses; businesses which will steadily grow and stimulate our ugly economy. I'm a perfect example of an individual who can make a positive contribution to our financial recovery. However, if corporations such as PayPal are allowed to continue to place road blocks in my way, the United States will never become the enterprising land of opportunity we tell the world we are," he concludes.

At the time of publication, Anthony had still not reached a resolution with PayPal. The case continues.
