Vallejo and Benicia bus riders to find new lines and other changes Sunday

Jun 30, 2012 (Times-Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- For Vallejo and Benicia transit riders, Sunday will be more than the advent of a new month, it also will signal widespread changes to nearly all Soltrans bus lines.

The changes constitute a 10 percent reduction in services, Soltrans staff members say.

However, riders should find some system improvements, such as direct access from Northeast Vallejo to the Gateway Plaza shopping district.

To help the transit-riding public with the changes, Soltrans staff will be on hand Sunday, and riders can call Soltrans Customer Service at (707) 648-4666 for help.

One of the biggest changes includes loss of the Sunday Route 80 service to the El Cerrito Del Norte BART station.

A new line called the 80 South will include Sunday morning and Sunday late afternoon service to and from the Walnut Creek BART station with two stops in Vallejo and one stop Benicia.

Nearly all other local Vallejo bus lines have been modified, including Routes 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7.

New schedules of the modified lines also will be available on bus lines.

Placards on buses and at bus stops also will promote the changes and direct people to call or go online for more information.

Meanwhile, Benicia bus riders will find their Benicia Breeze bus service replaced by a demand-driven Dial-A-Ride service.

For more information on Soltrans bus changes go to http://www.soltransride.com/about.html, or the SolTrans Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SolTrans.

New schedules are also available at the downtown bus transfer station, and the Soltrans bus facility on Broadway.
