Health Robotics' i.v.Station Helps LeeSar Lower IV Costs

Jul 09, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Health Robotics has announced that offsite Batch Sterile Compounding Centers are becoming a trend in USA's hospital pharmacies' attempt to lower the IVs price premiums they are currently incurring with companies such as Pharmedium and Ameridose for custom IV manufacturing, and Baxter, Hospira and B.Braun for Pre-Mix/Frozen solutions.

Health Robotics noted that its i.v.Station customer LeeSar is guiding the hospital pharmacy industry by engaging Health Robotics' assistance to enhance quality, lower labor expenses, and increase Sterile Compounding throughput with less staff. LeeSar's is co-owned by Lee Memorial Health System, Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System, Leesburg Regional Medical Center, and The Villages Medical Center.

Ken Greco, Director of Pharmacy at LeeSar's Sterile Compounding Center, said: "Since we installed and went "live" on our 1 i.v.Station Robot, I can comfortably say that we are saving our network hospitals at least 20 percent of the cost of processing Sterile Compounding Batch I.V. doses (IV Bags and Syringes) manufactured by the i.v.Station Robot. We plan to expand our relationship with Health Robotics this Fall by adding one or two more i.v.Station Robots to our Sterile Compounding operations after we move to our brand new 40,780 sq. feet facilities this Summer." Gaspar DeViedma, Health Robotics' Executive VP, said: "We are very proud of what LeeSar's and Health Robotics have accomplished as a unified team in Florida. Customer's satisfaction with i.v.Station has been a direct result of our March 2011 decision to directly enter the USA market after being let down by previous distributors, and building a local and competent installation and technical support organization. Many other hospital-based and non-hospital-based Sterile Compounding organizations in the USA have followed LeeSar's model, such as Scripps Health and many others that recently selected Health Robotics for its short-term ROI, redundant 2nd Generation architecture, and unprecedented speed".

Health Robotics is a global supplier of life- critical intravenous medication robots.
