New Jersey man arrested in Norristown double murder

Jul 16, 2012 (The Philadelphia Inquirer - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A 24-year-old found hiding under a cardboard box in his mother's home in Irvington, N.J., has been arrested and charged with fatally stabbing two Norristown residents in June.

Luckenson Desrivieres, of the 1200 block of Arch Street, was charged with murder and related offenses in the killings of Marc Winchell Estiverne, 23, and Shamara Hill, 26.

The three knew each other because Desrivieres and Estiverne both rented rooms at 1218 Arch Street in Norristown. Hill was Estiverne's girlfriend and would often stay over in his room, police said.

Law enforcement officials said they received a call at 4:20 p.m. on June 17 after the two victims' bodies were found in a second floor bedroom.

Both had stab wounds to the head and torso. The county coroner's office said both were killed with the same "non-serrated instrument." A joint investigation by Norristown police and Montgomery County detectives found that one of the bodies had been moved and that human blood had been cleaned off the floor and hallway of the Norristown home.

Witnesses told police they heard a struggle on June 14 and the next day saw the defendant carrying a trash bag out of the house "to do laundry." Desrivieres told a witness that he wanted a female to "lure" Estiverne to the Elmwood Park down by the creek so that he could rob him and, "take care of him permanently." On June 15, Desrivieres visited the home of a witness and showed the witness a lap top computer and cellular telephone that belonged to Estiverne, police said.

Two days later, police said, Desrivieres asked to borrow $20 so that he could buy a bus ticket to New Jersey to visit his sick mother. The witness walked Desrivieres to the bus station, bought him a ticket, and later heard from Desrivieres that he had arrived safely.

Detectives recovered the laptop that Desrivieres had pawned at a local pawnshop on June 18. He had received $75 for the computer, police said. Detectives traced the laptop to the victim.

Last Wednesday, the United States Marshalls Fugitive Task Force arrested Desrivieres at a home in the 100 block of Myrtle Avenue in Irvington. He was hiding in the basement of the home beneath a cardboard box, and had shaved off his dreadlocks to change is appearance, police said.

He was extradited back to Montgomery County July 14, arraigned by a district judge, and remanded to the county prison without bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Margaret Hunsicker on July 20 at 9:30 a.m. in Norristown.
