BRIEF: Urine trouble

Athens, Sep 17, 2012 (Athens Daily Review - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Athens Police Department is often called to make an arrest of some violator at the state parole office, but the offense, Thursday was a bit out of the ordinary.

APD arrested 42-year-old Wayne Newton Womack for trying to fake a urine test. Womack was transported to the Henderson County Justice Center on the third degree felony charge of tampering with or falsifying physical evidence. He was released, Friday, on $2,500 bond.

APD reports said dispatch received a call from the Athens office of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice State Parole Division that a man had allegedly attached an Elmer's Glue bottle, full of another person urine to his body in an attempt to pass the test. APD sent Cpl. Jason Bosher to the Parolee Office on N. Palestine Street where he took a report and transported Womack to jail.

The Texas Penal Code lists the punishment, upon conviction, for a third degree felon as not more than 10 years or less than 2 years in prison. In addition to imprisonment, the defendant may be punished by a fine not to exceed $10,000.
