Xerox Awarded $72 Million Contract to Help Nevada Meet Federal Deadline for Health Insurance Exchange

DALLAS --(Business Wire)--

The state of Nevada has awarded Xerox (NYSE: XRX) a $72 million contract to design and implement the state's Health Insurance Exchange (HIX).

By choosing Xerox's cloud-based HIX Solution Suite, Nevada will meet the Affordable Care Act deadlines to provide an online portal for individuals and small businesses to compare and purchase health plans.

"There is very little margin for error in getting an exchange fully operational by 2014 and self-sustainable by 2015," said Jon Hager, executive director, Silver State Health Insurance Exchange. "The Xerox service gives Nevada the flexibility to maintain control over our exchange and our insurance market and build in customizations without sacrificing timeliness."

In addition to developing and operating the Web portal and online selection tool for healthcare coverage plans, Xerox will also manage a customer contact center to share information with participants about the price and quality of health services.

"The exchange we're designing in Nevada uses proven solutions from the commercial marketplace and will create a more consumer-friendly experience, similar to comparison shopping that is so common with other online purchases," said Will Saunders, group president, Government Healthcare Solutions, Xerox. "Implementing a service that is easy for consumers supports our clients' objective of increasing health coverage and demonstrates Nevada's leadership."

Xerox has more than 40 years of experience working with government health agencies to enhance the efficiency of health programs and help ensure the health of citizens.
