Microsoft's profits plunge 22 pct in Q3 [Asian News International]

(Asian News International Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) London, Oct 19 (ANI): Profits at software giant Microsoft have slumped to 4.47 billion dollars in the third quarter from 5.74 billion dollars in the same quarter a year earlier.

The firm's profits fell short of Wall Street's expectations last quarter, underlining the pressure on the next version of Windows to help revive sales.

According to the Telegraph, consumers' increasing preference for tablets over traditional PCs is hitting Microsoft.

The company, which billionaire and co-founder Bill Gates still chairs, is set to launch its own tablet known as Surface in a bid to boost its profits.

The firm will also unveil its new operating system Windows 8 soon. (ANI) (c) 2012 aninews.in All rights reserved. Provided by Syndigate.info an Albawaba.com company
