Activu Chosen Again by New Jersey's Largest Public Utility for Command and Control Room Visualization and Collaboration

Rockaway,NJ, Oct 31, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Activu(R) Corporation, a leading provider of IP-based intelligent visualization and collaboration solutions for mission-critical command and control center environments, is pleased to announce that it was recently selected by and successfully installed the Activu system at PSE&G's new Command and Control Room for Transmission Line Monitoring.

Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) is one of the largest electric and gas utilities in the US. PSE&G is also the oldest and largest publicly owned utility in New Jersey serving nearly three-quarters of the state, and the largest subsidiary of its parent company, Public Service Enterprise Group, a publicly-traded integrated generation and energy company (NYSE: PEG) with headquarters in Newark, New Jersey.

PSE&G was formed in 1903 and, over the years, had built up a transmission line monitoring system that displayed information from 120 substations and switching points using old, outmoded equipment and technologies. Several years ago, with New Jersey's growing popularity as a residential and business hub, the mission-critical nature of PSE&G's electric and gas services, and the severe limitations of PSE&G's legacy monitoring system, PSE&G replaced its antiquated infrastructure with an earlier version of Activu's network-based visualization and collaboration solution for two locations - the transmission area and an energy trading room.

More recently, PSE&G's transmission line monitoring system again reached end-of-life, with added difficulty in obtaining reasonably-priced parts for replacement and maintenance. This time around, with Activu's assistance in system design and integration, PSE&G successfully transitioned its two-wall system into a single-wall visualization and collaboration system for transmission line monitoring, with a larger video wall that uses a 3ft x 7 ft matrix of 60-inch high-definition Mitsubishi DLP (digital light processing) display screens integrated with the latest version of Activu servers and system software and a new audio system.

"I want to commend the team that managed our relationship with PSE&G because this repeat win was due to the excellent service and support they provided over the many years of our earlier engagement. PSE&G chose Activu again because they viewed, first hand, our understanding of the utility business and our ability to design and integrate an intelligent and easily configurable visualization and collaboration solution for large-scale utility network monitoring. PSE&G also chose Activu for the demonstrated cost-effectiveness of our IP-based solution in large scale implementations." said Activu CEO Paul Noble.
