Arxan Technologies Presents at Droidcon London on Protecting Android Apps Against Reverse-Engineering and Hackers

Nov 01, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Arxan Technologies, a provider of software security solutions that protects the global App Economy, announced that it delivered a presentation by Mark Noctor, EMEA sales director, entitled "Protect Your Business against Reverse Engineering" at Droidcon London.

Droidcon London is part of a worldwide movement to expose the best of Android an organized by the London Android Users Group, and the conference featured two days of presentations from more than 30 respected speakers on topics from mobile devices, to TV, to cars, to gaming.

The company noted that Noctor and the Arxan team work with some of the world's most recognizable companies to secure application software against the emerging attacks on the mobile platform of reverse-engineering and tampering. In his session, "Protect Your Business against Reverse Engineering", he shared a variety of case studies, ranging from startups to global financial institutions, and how they defend their high-value assets and intellectual property from digital thieves on the Android platform.

According to the recently released McAfee Threats Report: Second Quarter 2012 research report, virtually all new mobile malware detected in Q2 2012 was directed at the Android platform, and was comprised of SMS-sending malware, mobile botnets, spyware and destructive Trojans. Given the open-source nature of Android, Google recommends, at minimum, the usage of code obfuscation. However, hackers can leverage widely available decompilation and code analysis tools to defeat obfuscation-only solutions, and therefore exists a serious lack of adequate protection for the application layer which increasingly contains highly valued assets, critical security logic or sensitive data.

Arxan reported that it provides security for Android apps (Java and Native), enabling protection of the code, data and cryptographic keys resident within and leveraged as part of an Android application. The sum of Arxan's layered security technology prevents passive and active analysis and delivers resilient app integrity manner which does not impact source code, application functioning or the development process.
