BRIEF: City man sentenced in bath salts caseCUMBERLAND, Nov 03, 2012 (Cumberland Times-News - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A 25-year-old city man was sentenced to a five-year prison term after pleading guilty to charges stemming from two burglaries last June that related to the use of bath salts, according to the State's Attorney Office. Kevin Paul Bailey received a sentence of five years in the Division of Correction with three years suspended and was placed on supervised probation for three years upon his release from prison. Bailey was also ordered to make restitution to the victims among other probation conditions. Bailey pleaded guilty to assault and malicious destruction of property arising out of his breaking into two residences and demolishing property on June 10, 2012. Bailey had injected himself with bath salts prior to the incident and was restrained by the homeowner after Bailey dove through a glass door into the homeowner's kitchen. Upon officers' arrival, Bailey continued to be combative, causing injuries to two Cumberland Police officers. The case was presided over by Allegany County District Court Judge Edward A. Malloy and prosecuted by Deputy State's Attorney Linda Thomas. Bailey was represented by Michael Stankan of the Public Defender's Office. ___ (c)2012 the Cumberland Times News (Cumberland, Md.)
