Penguin Computing Announces Immediate Availability of AMD Opteron™ 6300 Series Processors


FREMONT, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Penguin Computing, an elite partner of the AMD (News - Alert) Fusion Partner Program and AMD's 2011 OEM of the Year today announced the immediate availability of AMD Opteron™ 6300 Series processors (NYSE: AMD) on its Altus line of rackmount servers.

The new generation of AMD Opteron processors is based on an improved micro-architecture code named "Piledriver" that enables lower TCO and better price/performance than the previous generation of AMD Opteron processors. Based on Java benchmarks performed by AMD the new processors deliver performance gains of up to 24% within the same power envelope. The new processors maintain socket compatibility with the previous processor generation. Effective immediately Penguin Computing's complete line up of Altus servers will be configurable with the AMD Opteron 6300 Series processors.
