Equalis Introduces Code Generation Modules for Xcos and Microchip Technology

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) San Jose, California (PRWEB) November 15, 2012 Equalis, the leading provider of numerical analysis, visualization and simulation solutions for engineers and scientists, built on the Scilab open source platform, today announced the availability of its Coder and Embedded Coder for Microchip Technology modules. The modules leverage Xcos as well as Gen-Auto platforms. Xcos is a dynamic systems modeler and interactively simulates complex electrical, mechanical, or physical systems developed by the Scilab Consortium. Gen-Auto is an open-source toolset for converting models to executable program code which was developed as a result of an ITEA project by a European consortium of partners from France, Estonia, Belgium, and Israel.

Now with Equalis Coder users are able to quickly develop portable, readable C code directly from their Xcos models automatically without the time consuming task of manual coding. User can then extend their workflow with the Equalis Embedded Coder for Microchip, which includes specific blocks to efficiently target Microchip’s 8, 16 and 32-bit PIC® microcontroller devices and boards. With this new comprehensive solution engineers experience huge productivity gains in developing both real-time and non-real time systems for simulation, rapid prototyping, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.

Equalis provides premier software modules on top of the Scilab open source platform and industrial grade support through subscription programs; typically 90% less than purchasing equivalent software applications. Training, deployment and consulting services are also available for a fast start. Equalis’ premier modules include: Communications, Connectivity, Control and Power Systems, Fixed Point, Instrument Control, Neural Networks, Parallelization, Signal Processing, SoftCruncher (software performance enhancement), and many more.

The Equalis Coder and Embedded Coder for Microchip are bundled as an option to the Equalis Pro Plus solution and are available with prices starting at only $2,995 per user. Existing Equalis Pro Plus subscribers can download these new modules as add-ons.

“With the introduction of Equalis Coder and Embedded Coder for Microchip we have empowered our users with a powerful code generation capability from within a single environment that enables the rapid development and prototyping of complex systems,” said Carmine Napolitano, CEO and Co-founder, Equalis. “This new capability further expands the range of problems our solutions can solve for our customers from within a single environment thus maximizing productivity.” “We are delighted that Equalis is supporting our 8, 16 and 32-bit PIC microcontrollers, which enables cost-effective development for our mutual customers,” said Derek Carlson, Vice President of Development Tools, Microchip Technology Inc. “Not only can designers use Equalis’ solutions to help lower costs, but they can also help improve the quality of their development on our MPLAB® platform.” About Microchip Technology Microchip Technology Inc.
