BRIEF: North Haven Man Facing Child-Enticement Charges

NORTH HAVEN, Nov 17, 2012 (The Hartford Courant - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A Belvedere Road man who state troopers say tried to seduce a person he believed to be a 14-year-old boy was arrested.

Mark Smith, 44, of 14 Belvedere Road, is charged with attempt to entice a minor and attempt to impair the morals of a child.

Smith arranged to meet with the boy through the Internet and sent "inappropriate photos and verbiage" over email, state police said. The contact allegedly began after the state police posted a personal ad on a website in January.

At one point, Smith expressed intent to meet with the boy at a hotel room, state police said in a written release.

Smith was arraigned at Superior Court in Waterbury and is held on $50,000 bail. He is due back in court on Nov. 21.
