Emmaus robbery suspect arrested after victim recognizes her on Facebook

Nov 22, 2012 (The Morning Call (Allentown - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- An Emmaus High School student recognized the person who pulled a knife on her in October and robbed her of her iPhone by seeing a picture of her on Facebook, according to court records.

Daquasia K. Ransome, of 19, of Emmaus, was charged Tuesday with the Oct. 3 knifepoint robbery in the 500 block of North Street. Two other teens -- Denisse F. Guzman, 18, and Angel F. Gil, 19, both of Allentown -- were with Ransome and are also being charged in the robbery, police said.

The 16-year-old victim told police she was walking home at 2:40 p.m. on Oct. 3 and was holing her iPhone 4S in her hands while listening to music. She said a 4-door car pulled up next to her and a black teen-age woman came out of the car with a knife, according to a criminal complaint.

The complaint continues: The woman told the victim, "give me the phone or I'll stab you," and also demanded she give her the password for the phone. The victim handed over the phone and the password and the woman fled in the four-door car.

Witnesses were able to describe the car and a few days later Allentown police arrested Guzman and Gil, who is her boyfriend, with robbing a woman of an iPad and an iPhone in Allentown.

The victim in the Emmaus robbery learned of that robbery and looked up Guzman on Facebook, recognizing her as a former classmate. The victim looked through Guzman's Facebook photos and saw one where Guzman was with the woman who pulled a knife on her and robbed her of the iPhone.

Emmaus police looked at the photos and recognized that woman as Ransome.

All three are charged with robbery, theft, simple assault and criminal conspiracy. They were arraigned by District Judge Donna Butler and sent to Lehigh County Prison under $50,000 bail.
