Maxis launches 4G LTE service [New Straits Time (Malaysia)]
(New Straits Time (Malaysia) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) KUALA LUMPUR: MAXIS Bhd, the country's largest mobile operator, has launched its 4G LTE (long term evolution) service, making it the first to roll out the high-speed wireless broadband service.
The 4G LTE service, which was launched at the stroke of New Year's Day, is now available in selected parts of the Klang Valley. They include Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Damansara Utama, Desa Sri Hartamas, Bandar Puchong Jaya, Bandar Sunway and Cyberjaya.
The service offers speeds of up to 75 megabits per second (Mbps), with typical average speeds of 10-30 Mbps.
Designed specifically for homes and businesses, Maxis 4G LTE will make possible super fast Internet access outside fibre broadband coverage.
"This represents a crucial milestone in Maxis' integrated journey. 4G LTE operates at download speeds of 5-10 times faster than 3G and will enable and sustain a seamless experience of rich content across both our high-speed fixed and wireless network platforms in the country," chief executive officer Sandip Das said.
Maxis customers will enjoy a richer Internet experience with greater download speeds, smoother high definition video streams, lag- free gaming, among others, he added.
"However, it is not just about speed. Maxis, with our robust partnerships with leading device manufacturers and content players, is well placed to provide customers the true benefits of 4G LTE capabilities," he said.
The subscription for any of the monthly wireless broadband packages starts from RM88.
