BRIEF: Orange County says 911 system fully operational again

HILLSBOROUGH, Jan 03, 2013 (The News & Observer (Raleigh - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Orange County Emergency Management officials said the county 911 system is fully operational again, after intermittent phone problems Thursday morning.

Despite the problems, calls were rolling over to conventional lines, and callers were reaching 911 operators.

As a precaution, however, officials said that anyone who had a problem getting through by dialing 911 should call 919-732-5063.

Century Link, which provides the county's 911 service, said the problem was believed to be in its network, 911 managers said. They announced that the system had been fixed shortly after 11 a.m.

The county 911 center dispatches all fire, EMS and law enforcement calls for county and town agencies.
