New Releases [Manufacturing Engineering]
(Manufacturing Engineering Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SpaceClaim (Concord, MA), a developer of 3-D modeling software, has updated its SpaceClaim Engineer 2012+ software with new capabilities for manufacturing, simulation, concept development, and mesh remodeling.
Engineer 2012+ offers easy-to-use methods for creating, modifying, repairing, and enhancing 3-D CAD geometry. The software adds tools to work with mesh and STL data, such as the ability to compare a mesh to a solid, improved section curve fitting, plane and cylinder fitting, mesh splitting, and improvements to core modeling and performance.
The new Drilling Calculator from Sand vi k Coromant Fair Lawn, NJ) is an iPhone app designed to support engineers, programmers and machinists when working with drilling and tapping tools. The app helps calculate optimal cut settings based on job parameters, and it includes hole size calculations for tapping and ISO tolerances for bore and shaft. The app is downloadable at iTunes.
