BRIEF: Cold, rainy weekend in store for Northern San Joaquin Valley, with more snow in mountains
MODESTO, Jan 05, 2013 (The Modesto Bee - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
After several days of cold and sun, it's looking as though the weekend might be a wet one for the Northern San Joaquin Valley.
Forecasters predict a chance of rain this afternoon and a 70 percent chance by Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, this system is weaker than the last several storms that have visited the area.
But it's still likely to bring "light to moderate rain across the valley and accumulating snow to the mountains."
Forecasters call for up to a half-inch of rain across the valley Saturday night into Sunday, with as much as 4 inches of snow falling at elevations as low as 3,000 to 4,000 feet.
