Try This: Resolve to run

Jan 05, 2013 (The Columbian - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Bold Training hosts the Resolution Run, with a 10K, 5K and a 1K Cub Run for children. The course starts and ends at Battle Ground Village, and is open to both walkers and runners. The event includes a post-party provided by Bone's Steak and Chop House and Laurelwood Brew Pub, along with a live DJ and Polar Bear Slide, a cold slip-n-slide for the brave.

When: 8 a.m. registration opens, 10 a.m. race begins, Sunday.

Where: Bold Training, Battle Ground Village, 819 S.E. 14th Loop, Battle Ground.

Admission: $37 to $40, $15 to $20 for 1K Cub Run.

By day and by night Fort Vancouver continues its nighttime tours through the chill and the fog of history with its Lantern Tours. A park ranger guide and costumed interpreters lead small groups through the reconstructed palisade and nine buildings by candlelight. Visitors can see what life was like when the fort was the most important settlement in the Pacific Northwest. Reservations required. The fort can also be explored during the daylight.

When: Lantern Tour, 7 to 9 tonight. Regular hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Web: Fort Vancouver Eclectic art for all Gallery 360 will be filled with 100 different artworks during its current exhibit, "The Collective," through Jan. 27. Visitors can view a little bit of everything as 100 local artists showcase as many different types of media and subject matter. The exhibit will highlight the 20 to 25 student artists participating in the hallway gallery.

In anticipation of the Brautigan conference happening later this month, the museum will display rare photographs and memorabilia from the author and his library of unpublished books. Also on display is "Above & Below the Fold: News Fit to Print," which looks at the odd, significant and unusual events of the area's history.
