I have been alarmed to note that most of the mass killings have been committed by affluent, educated white males from supposedly good families. I'm just wondering and am puzzled.
No-show
Regarding the anti-Graves comment in the paper, I find the editor's note interesting. The point is, Mr. Graves was not there for this important vote. Yet you tell everybody that he would have voted "no' on it if he had been there. That's not the point at all. He was not there.
No rewards
I am concerned and confused about an article that was in the News- Press about Buchanan County putting in video equipment for the inmates at the jail. Why are we rewarding those inmates The next thing you know, we'll be offering them hot tubs and private showers. I am very against rewarding someone for crimes committed.
Refuse it
We all just recently read the report from the federal government about the expense of printing paper money. They were going to introduce a new dollar coin. Well, they did, and guess what It no longer has "In God We Trust.' We all ought to refuse it when making transactions; then maybe the federal government will get the message.
Disgusting
I see where Sam Graves voted against the Sandy Disaster Relief Fund. He should be hanging his head in shame. Because he represents a state that knows very well the face of disasters like tornadoes and floods. For him to do something like this to people in a different part of the country is disgusting. He should be ashamed. But then, you kind of have to have some sort of conscience and soul to have shame, and he has none of that.
No frills
I just read your article about the cold-weather shelter opening. One of the residents was wondering if they had cable. They should have been thankful they had a warm place to go and eat and not worry about cable. And also, I think the legislature ought to look into how Iowa is running their welfare system. We need to improve on ours. Maybe that's why all of the Iowa people are coming down here to draw welfare. We are making it too easy for all these people to get on welfare and have handouts. Why work when you can get somebody to take care of you
The right amount
This so-called tax increase for the average worker, all that means is they're paying them the correct amount of Social Security and Medicare now, which they haven't been during the Obama years. And as far as that Mount Rushmore for Obama, good grief, are you on drugs
