BRIEF: House fire near Littlestown destroys house, displaces residents

A house fire in Union Township late Saturday night completely destroyed a house and displaced the residents.
More than 10 fire companies responded to the blaze at 10 John Edward Drive near Littlestown around 10 p.m. An unknown number of residents were able to leave the home safely, Alpha Fire Chief Scott Small said.
However, a cat and dog were unaccounted for as crews battled the flames and smoke, he added. Red Cross arrived at the scene to provide food and displacement help.
"This is the third major fire we've had since the week before Christmas," Scott said of his company out of Littlestown.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
Alpha Fire Company No. 1, Bonneauville Fire Company, Southeastern Adams Volunteer Emergency Services, Penn Township Fire Department, Hanover Fire Department, Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Pleasant Valley Community Fire Department, Taneytown Volunteer Fire Company, Harney Volunteer Fire Company and Irishtown Fire Company responded to the scene.
