Greens push for ATM fees to be scrapped

Jan 06, 2013 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) -- The Australian Bankers' Association (ABA) has rejected calls by the Australian Greens party for ATM fees to be removed. The ABA said third party providers would struggle to remain competitive if the measure was adopted. The Greens will ask Treasurer Wayne Swan to ban the fees and will introduce a private members bill if he refuses. ATM fees generate around $A50m per year.
