$1m claim for defects at World Square site
Jan 06, 2013 (The Sydney Morning Herald - ABIX via COMTEX) --
Three legal disputes in the Supreme Court of New South Wales (NSW) are ongoing between real estate developer Meriton and the Owners Corporation Network. Buyers of apartments in the World Square high-rise in Sydney argue that the company is liable for defects, including in the fire safety system, valued at in excess of $A1m. The court action could also lead to Meriton losing the caretaker contract, worth $A2.13m per annum. NSW strata laws are said to contain a loophole on the appointment of the builder as the caretaker.
