Update: Lenovo Group conducts structural adjustments, dividing business into two
BEIJING, Jan 06, 2013 (Xinhua via COMTEX) --
The Lenovo Group (00992.HK; LNVGY.PK),
China's biggest PC maker, announced on Sunday that it would carry out
structural adjustments to divide its businesses into two business
groups, the Lenovo business group and the Think business group, and
the adjustments would come into effective as from April 1.
Lenovo business group would cover Lenovo's computer and mobile
internet and digital home (MIDH) businesses, and the Think business
group would cover the Think brand products and corporate upgrade
businesses.
After the adjustment, Li Jun, original director of MIDH business
would be in charge of the Lenovo business group, and Lenovo's world
product department president Peter Hortensius would be in charge of
the Think group business, said .
Yang Yuanqing, chief executive officer of Lenovo Group, said that
the adjustments were to serve management of different businesses and
improve brand advantages.
As a product brand, Lenovo business group would focus on the
mainstream and low-end market, while the Think business group was the
best assets and it would target at high-end market.
Market experts hold the adjustments intend to improve the Think
brand's role to generate more market share and profits from high-end
market, and it also means the Idea brand will be abandoned. (Edited
