ALEXANDRIA, Va., Jan. 7 -- Tyco Electronics, Berwyn, Pa., has been assigned a patent (8,342,733) developed by four co-inventors for LED lighting assemblies. The co-inventors are Christopher George Daily, Harrisburg, Pa., Rohan Narang, Harrisburg, Pa., Matthew Edward Mostoller, Hummelstown, Pa., and Ronald Martin Weber, Annville, Pa.
The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: "A lighting assembly for a light emitting diode (LED) package having an LED chip on the top of a mounting substrate with power leads on the top of the mounting substrate arranged proximate to a first edge of the mounting substrate, which is mounted to a base, includes power contacts defining separable interfaces for contacting the power leads on the mating substrate of the LED package and supplying power to the LED chip. The power contacts have compliant beams extending to the separable interfaces that are deflected when contacting the power leads such that the power contacts are biased against the power leads. The power contacts are terminated to corresponding power conductors opposite the separable interfaces. The lighting assembly also includes a dielectric housing holding the power contacts, with the housing having mounting features for securing the housing to the base independent of the LED package."
The patent application was filed on Dec. 14, 2009 (12/637,356). The full-text of the patent can be found at http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-bool.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&co1=AND&d=PTXT&s1=8,342,733&OS=8,342,733&RS=8,342,733
