Proact and Sensage Accelerate Telco and ISP Compliance With European Data Retention Directive

HANOVER, Md., Jan 08, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE via COMTEX) -- The KEYW Holding Corporation (Nasdaq:KEYW), through its subsidiary Sensage, Inc., today announced its expanding reach into the commercial European market through a strategic partnership with Proact, a specialist in storage, archiving and securing large volumes of mission-critical information. Under this agreement, Proact and Sensage are delivering an integrated, secure, scalable data collection and retention system to address the new Swedish Data Retention Directive.

"With the recent adoption of the Data Retention Directive, which directly impacts Swedish telecommunications operators and Internet Service Providers, organizations are seeking out solutions and partners to simplify both regulatory compliance and efficient performance of storage and investigation activities," said Lena Eskilsson, Regional Manager at Proact Sweden. "By leveraging Sensage's patented event data warehouse technology, we can deliver turnkey solutions - on premise or hosted - to get customers up and running quickly and affordably. Our goal is to provide customers with the ability to conduct investigations within hours and days - as opposed to weeks and months - and avoid business disruptions caused by perceived or actual delays in accommodating law enforcement entities." On May 1, 2012, Sweden adopted Directive 2006/24/EC of the European Parliament and Council, which requires telephone operators and Internet Service Providers to store citizens' telecommunications data, specifically telephone, messaging and Internet use, for six months. This creates added complexity and costs for Internet Service Providers and telecommunications organizations that must store and analyze massive amounts of data to answer law enforcement requests with undue delay.

Working with Sensage, Proact is providing customers with a solution that addresses these challenges and streamlines their ability to respond to threats. With out-of-the-box analytics, including reports and dashboards, along with a standard querying capability and an OBDB/JDBC interface to any third party Business Intelligence tool, Sensage enables Proact to support customers' analytics and investigation requirements. Sensage has proven expertise in this area, delivering these capabilities to the large telecommunications providers in Europe and Africa, which adopted the directive several years ago.

Proact and Sensage have already enabled their first joint customer, a leading Swedish telecommunications firm to comply with the new directive and consolidate log information from several systems and formats. With Proact backed by Sensage, the Swedish carrier now stores pertinent information, including security event log data from various sources, in a central system that streamlines the search process and improves reporting capabilities.

In addition, Sensage has out-of-the-box collector and reporting capabilities to accelerate compliance with the ETSI 102 657 standard, which mandates telecommunications and Internet Service Providers retain telephone, Internet access and messaging service transaction records for a period of time between six months and two years, and be prepared to deliver the appropriate data upon authorized inquiry.

"We are pleased to take the knowledge we have established in assisting Telcos in other countries in the European Union and bring that to Sweden through Proact," said Joe Gottlieb, Vice President of KEYW's Global Security Solutions Sector. "In addition to extending Sensage's European footprint, this partnership with Proact allows both companies to simplify data management and analysis for telecommunications providers, making new compliance activities easier, faster and less costly."
