Springtown fire leads to arrest of burglary suspect

Jan 08, 2013 (Fort Worth Star-Telegram - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Where there's fire, sometimes there's a burglary suspect.

A Springtown man was arrested Monday night after authorities say firefighters responded to a small fire at a warehouse in Parker County and found the suspect had tried to burn insulation off of stolen wire.

Deputies identified the suspect as Danny Wayne Turner, 51, of Springtown.

Parker County authorities responded to a call of a burglary just before 10 p.m. Monday at a Springtown business in the 1200 of E. Texas 199. Deputies found doors to the building had been damaged and a van was missing, but no suspect.

The van was located on Texas 199 near a warehouse with all the tools and other equipment missing, according to a news release from the Denton County Sheriff's Office.

As authorities searched the area, deputies observed fire and smoke coming out the warehouse.

Turner told authorities that he had been burning wire, the news release said.

But deputies also found the stolen items from the van in the warehouse.

Turner confessed to the burglary of the building and stealing the van.

The Springtown man also told deputies that he was attempting to burn off the insulation of the stolen wire.

Turners was in the Parker County Jail in Weatherford on suspicion of burglary of a building and telecommunication service theft. He was in jail in lieu of $35,000 bail.
