St. Elizabeth Upgrades Angio Suite with New Imaging System
Youngstown, Ohio, Jan 11, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) --
St. Elizabeth Health Center will conduct a blessing of its new angiography suite at 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11. The blessing will serve as an introduction to the new Artis zee(R) biplane system, an innovative imaging system that provides physicians detailed three-dimensional views of small blood vessels and soft tissue during angiography and neuroradiology procedures.
The new imaging system could help lead to more accurate and efficient diagnosis, providing patients faster diagnostic and treatment procedures - including those being treated for strokes. The Artis zee(R) biplane system is specially designed to provide patients with the lowest possible radiation dose while maintaining high quality images. Minimizing radiation dose is especially beneficial during interventional procedures because they are often lengthy in duration.
The Artis zee(R) biplane system provides highly detailed images of a patient's blood vessels and arteries during minimally invasive neuroradiology procedures, enabling physicians to obtain three-dimensional views of the patient's anatomy, from any direction. he system features two flat-panel detectors which provide high resolution image quality. The detectors also help physicians visualize interventional devices, such as guidewires and catheters, in precise detail and from almost any angle.
The Artis zee(R) biplane imaging system features advanced software technology that creates detailed images of soft tissue. This technology facilitates differentiation of soft tissue to help detect intracranial hemorrhages, visualize brain tissue, and support quick and accurate therapeutic decision-making. This software is ideal during that critical time for stroke patients and provides physicians with highly detailed anatomical images while in the interventional suite, reducing the need to move the patient to another location for the procedure.
"The new equipment is ideal for stroke and aneurysm patients, providing superior image quality and visualization of the finest vessels, all while saving critical time for stroke patients," said Susan Nespeca, director of radiology at St. Elizabeth. "Humility of Mary Health Partners is pleased to provide the very best technology and continue our mission of being a leader in patient care."
