The competition took place today, January 12, after Draw 8 at about 4
p.m. local time. Curling legend Randy Ferbey and members of Team
Jennifer Jones, along with WFG
associates and staff, were present to cheer on the finalists and
congratulate the winner.
"The Rock the Ice Contest was so exiting to watch!" Jennifer Jones, skip

Louise for an outstanding draw under pressure."
The Grand Prize, provided by WFGIA
and contributing sponsors Transamerica
Life Canada, Equitable Life of Canada, Boomerang Financial and
Heritage Education Funds, is $25,000 worth of financial products and
services available through WFGIA. The winner will work with a licensed
WFGIA financial professional in the province where she resides to
determine a financial strategy based on tese winnings.
This contest was designed to help WFGIA
raise awareness of the financial solutions it provides to families and
individuals. "We are thrilled for Ann Louise Plaxton and the overall
results of the competition," says Richard Williams, President of WFGIA.
"I like to think that it added to the excitement of the Continental Cup,
but, more importantly, it has enabled us to demonstrate the difference
we can make in the lives of Canadian families by helping them take
control of their finances. With this contest, we can point to Ann Louise
as a specific individual whose financial security can be enhanced by our
solutions. As the Grand Prize winner, Ann Louise will have access to
various products and services that WFGIA associates market to consumers
on a daily basis, as well as learn more about the financial fundamentals
that can help her make better decisions for her future."
This contest has also exemplified WFG's long commitment to the sport of
curling, which began in 2006, when the company first sponsored Team
Ferbey. WFGIA's
support of Team Jennifer Jones, the 2012 Canadian Scotties Tournament of
Hearts Bronze Medalist and the 2011 Silver Medalist, continues the
company's tradition of backing some of curling's best athletes. In
addition to team sponsorship, the company has, over the last several
years, been a primary sponsor of the CCA's Continental Cup and the
Season of Champions.
"WFG
has done a tremendous job at promoting and growing the sport of
curling," says Jennifer Jones. "Team Jennifer Jones is honored to be a
part of the WFG family."
The company launched the contest at the WFG Continental Cup 2012 in
Langley, BC. Contest entries were collected online and at WFGIA's
booth at 2011-2012 Season of Champions events and at WFGIA offices
throughout Canada.
