(Sunday Mirror (England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TAXIS are charging customers up to Pounds 28 an hour just to sit in traffic jams.

Britain's cheapest and most expensive cab waiting times have been revealed by a new smartphone app, TaxiTastic.

Exmouth, East Devon, tops the list at Pounds 28 an hour, while Redcar, North Yorks, is the cheapest at Pounds 6. The figures are based on data from taxi rate cards across the UK. A spokeswoman said: "With such a variation, it pays to know the rates." Waiting time charges, in addition to the per mile fare, come into force when a taxi is travelling at low speeds or stationary.
