BRIEF: Destination ImagiNation provides fun learning for area youths at UNH

DURHAM, Jan 13, 2013 (Foster's Daily Democrat - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- New Hampshire Destination ImagiNation program stirred up creativity on Saturday at the University of New Hampshire.

The global leader in teaching the creative process from imagination to innovation educates all ages of children from kindergarten through the university level. The program encourages learners to take risks and challenge themselves while incorporating subjects such as: science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.


There are 150,000 annual participants in Destination ImagiNation alone, and 38,000 volunteers.

Jill Schoonmaker, Executive Director of New Hampshire Destination ImagiNation and New Hampshire's Incredible Creativity Connection provided Saturday's event schedule which included three separate workshops: An instant challenge workshop, that emphasizes critical thinking and problem solving, an improvisation workshop which focuses on team building and a third workshop called, beautiful garbage which encourages children to become empowered through their own creativity and construct costumes out of plastic materials.
