Focus on Education: Merced County computer training

Jan 13, 2013 (The Modesto Bee - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Merced County Office of Education computer training classes start soon, ranging from the newest features in Photoshop CS6 to advanced functions in Microsoft Office. The registration fee is $75 per class. All classes meet from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the computer lab, behind the K building at the MCOE complex, 632 W. 13th St., Merced. SPECIAL-NEEDS PARENTS: Turlock Unified School District behavior intervention specialists will offer a class on "Practical Behavior Strategies for the Home" from 8:30 to 10 a.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at the district office, 1574 E. Canal Drive. There is no cost, but reservations are required by Jan. 28. Call the special education office at (209) 667-8519.

ENOCHS INFORMATION NIGHT: Information for eighth-graders and parents on special programs at Enochs High School will be offered at 6 p.m. Jan. 31 in the Enochs cafeteria, 3201 Sylvan Ave. Programs to be discussed are forensics biotechnology, graphic design and pre-veterinary science. COMMITTEE MEMBERS SOUGHT: The Yosemite Community College District board of trustees is seeking applications from qualified individuals interested in serving on the YCCD Measure E Citizens Bond Oversight Committee for two-year terms. Vacancies exist for a senior citizen organization representative, a business organization representative, a Modesto Junior College or Columbia College student, and an at-large resident. Employees or officials of the district, and vendors, contractors or consultants of the district, are not eligible. The chancellor and trustees will screen applications this month for either a February or March appointment. Applications can be obtained from the YCCD Chancellor's Office, 2201 Blue Gum Ave., by calling (209) 575-6509, or by visiting www.yosemite.edu/bond/committee.
