Dole increase 'can't be ducked'
Jan 13, 2013 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) --
Maree O'Halloran of the National Welfare Rights Network has urged both sides of federal parliament to back plans to increase unemployment benefits. The Newstart allowance is $A35 per day at present, although the Australian Government has proposed to lift it by $A50 a week. O'Halloran says this increase was suggested by the Henry review and describes it as "non-negotiable".
