AtlantiCare Joins Aetna Network
HARTFORD, Conn. & EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. --(Business Wire)--
Aetna (NYSE: AET)
and AtlantiCare today announced that the hospital system and other
AtlantiCare-related services will join Aetna's southern New Jersey
network.
"Aetna values its large membership in southern New Jersey. We are
delighted to offer our members in-network rates at AtlantiCare's medical
centers and other AtlantiCare-related services provided outside of the
medical centers," said Michael S. Costa, Aetna's New Jersey Network
head. "This is an important first step toward a strong relationship
between Aetna and AtlantiCare, characterized by innovation, quality
care, and affordability for our members."
AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center has two hospital locations --
Atlantic City and Pomona, NJ. Both will now participate in the Aetna
network. This means that Aetna members can access care at these
facilities at their preferred, in-network benefit levels. Aetna also
plans to expand its network of primary care physicians and specialists
as a result of this new agreement during the first quarter of 2013.
"We have enhanced our ability to bring ffordable, accessible quality
healthcare to members of our community who are insured by Aetna. We are
excited to offer all of our quality services to the people we serve in
the greater regional service area through the Aetna network," said Lori
Herndon, senior vice president, AtlantiCare.
Aetna provides health benefits to 370,000 people in southern New Jersey
through a broad array of commercial and Medicare plans. In southern New
Jersey, Aetna members have access to a contracted network of 22
hospitals and more than 5,700 primary care and specialist physicians.
