BRIEF: Young authors take part in Writing Olympics assembly
WATERFORD, Jan 17, 2013 (The Modesto Bee - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Students at Roberts Ferry Union Elementary School on Wednesday participated in their annual Writing Olympics awards assembly.
Eighth-grader Matthew Singleton earned author of the year honors for his poem "All at Once."
Runner-up Kaitlin McKelvy said she likes writing: "It helps me relax," the eighth-grader said. "I just go."
Nine winning students from the school, east of Waterford, will go on to the countywide competition.
