BRIEF: Girl Talking On Cell Phone Walks Into Side Of School Bus In New Britain

NEW BRITAIN, Jan 19, 2013 (The Hartford Courant - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- A girl who was distracted as she spoke on her cell phone suffered minor injuries Friday afternoon when she stepped off a curb and walked into the side of a moving school bus.

The incident occurred about 4 p.m. at Willow and North streets.

Police said the girl, who was about 13, was taken to the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain to be checked. The girl and the bus driver told responding officers that the girl walked into the bus.

Police said they are investigating. "There is no indication the bus driver is at fault," Lt. Ben Murphy said.
