Los Angeles man formally charged in Lenwood AM/PM burglary

BARSTOW, Jan 18, 2013 (Desert Dispatch - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- The Barstow District Attorney's office has formally filed charges against a Los Angeles man accused of robbing the AM/PM in Lenwood last month after Colton Police arrested him for a separate, later incident and he was positively identified as the suspect by Barstow Police, according to court records Friday.

Johnny Buzenes, 46, is accused of stealing an undetermined amount of cash from the Lenwood business at gunpoint during the wee hours of the morning on Dec. 27.

On Jan. 6, Buzenes was arrested by Colton Police for attempted robbery of a Denny's restaurant at 1190 S. Mt. Vernon.

Barstow Police Officer Andrew Reyes was able to compare an image captured by security video during the Lenwood incident to make the positive identification, officials said.

Police investigation concluded that Buzenes in also the likely suspect in an AM/PM robbery which occurred in Hesperia Dec. 19, though charges have not yet been filed in that case, according to court records.

Additionally, detectives are comparing information with investigators from other agencies and have determined that Buzenes may have been involved in several more armed robberies in Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, according to officials.

Buzenes was arraigned on robbery charges at Barstow Superior Court Monday. His pre-preliminary hearing is scheduled Tuesday, court records showed.
