BRIEF: Bassett expanding with warehouses in Indianapolis and Seattle
BASSETT, Va., Jan 22, 2013 (Winston-Salem Journal - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
Bassett Furniture Industries Inc. said Monday it is expanding its regional warehouse network by adding sites in Indianapolis and Seattle.
The goal is better serving independent furniture retailers in the Pacific Northwest, Midwest and Canada.
"The six regional warehouses that we now operate represent our commitment to improving the operational capabilities of Bassett's dealer network," said Rob Spilman, Bassett's president and chief executive.
The program primarily focuses on the company's "fast forward" strategy that uses supply chain analytics and forecasting to anticipate regional demand for best-selling upholstery and wooden-furniture styles and directs inventory from Asia to appropriate warehouse locations around the United States.
The other warehouses are in Bassett, Va., Conover, N.C., Dallas and Riverside, Calif.
