Margaret M. Kelley, 88, formerly of Melrose

Jan 23, 2013 (Boston Herald - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Margaret M. "Peggy" (Feeney) Kelley of Shelburne, Vt, formerly of Melrose, a former telephone company supervisor, died Thursday at the Burlington Health and Rehab Center in Burlington, Vt. She was 88.


Born in Portland, Maine, Mrs. Kelley was raised in Maine and moved to Massachusetts when she was 32. She lived in Malden for four years, in Melrose for more than 45 years, and for the past three years at the Lodge at Shelburne Bay Senior Living Community in Vermont.

Mrs. Kelley worked as an operator and then as a supervisor for the New England Telephone Co. for 42 years until her retirement.

She was a member of the IBEW telephone workers union and the New England Telephone Pioneers. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella in Portland. She was a longtime communicant of St. Mary's Church in Melrose.

Mrs. Kelley enjoyed walking, bowling and spending time with her family.

Wife of the late William W. for 50 years, Mrs. Kelley is survived by two daughters, Janet A. Boyden of Vermont, and Eileen M. Paquin of Dracut; a son, Robert W. of Florida; eight grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and several nieces.

A funeral Mass was celebrated yesterday at St. Mary's Church, Melrose.

Burial was in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.

Arrangements by the Gately Funeral Home, Melrose.
