BRIEF: Spotsy supervisors table gun ordinance
Jan 22, 2013 (The Free Lance-Star - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) --
The Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors appears to be done with a proposal that would allow people to shoot guns in some subdivisions--at least for the time being.
With no discussion, board members on Tuesday voted to table indefinitely an ordinance that would legalize the firing of guns on subdivision lots of more than five acres.
At a public hearing earlier this month, eight of 13 speakers were against the proposed code changes as written. All had safety concerns with the plan.
It's currently illegal to fire guns in any subdivision regardless of lot size. The proposed ordinance defines "subdivision" as any housing development that has a plat on file with the Circuit Court Clerk's Office.
