Savvy Shopper: Fashion show, auction aids Restoration Place

Help out a good cause by attending Restoration Place Ministries' fourth annual fashion show and auction March 21.
It's from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Greensboro Country Club.
The proceeds will benefit Restoration Place Ministries, a nonprofit that provides accessible and affordable counseling services to girls and women in the Triad.
Tickets are $60 through Feb. 28. They may be bought at Restoration Place Ministries (1301 Carolina St., Suite 114, Greensboro; 542-2060) or online at http://tinyurl.com/ bgvzzfm.
They will be $65 beginning March 1 and also will be available at Fleet Plummer (2437 Battleground Ave., Greensboro; 282-6970) and The Contemporary Lady (307-F Pisgah Church Road, Greensboro; 288-6488).
Book sale
Speaking of helping a worthy cause, save some dough during Beth David Synagogue's 11th annual used book sale in Greensboro (804 Winview Drive; 294-0007).
Gently used nonfiction, religion, philosophy, classics, reference works, textbooks, children's materials, cookbooks, crafts and hobbies will be for sale.
Other items for sale include coffee table and oversized books, fiction, mysteries, foreign language materials, LP records, DVDs, CDs, cassettes and videos.
More than 40,000 books will be for sale, with most costing $3 or less.
For $5, you can get a head start on shopping from 6:45 to 10:30 p.m. Feb. 16. Wine and cheese will be served.
It's free if you shop from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 17 and noon to 6 p.m. Feb. 18.
Proceeds benefit educational and community programs.
Clothes drive
Continuing our helping worthy causes theme, if you're cleaning out your closet, one option is to donate them to Bargain Box (122 N. Elm St., Greehnsboro; 273-6349).
The thrift shop, which serves as a fundraiser for the Junior League of Greensboro, is now collecting the clothes on behalf of the Women's Resource Center.
The center provides women in need vouchers that they can redeem at the store.
