Suspect sought in robberies

Jan 25, 2013 (The Pueblo Chieftain - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Pueblo law enforcement continues to solicit information about suspects involved in the recent string of robberies.

Pueblo police have arrested Brandon Bellagut-Wertsbaugh, 24, who has reportedly confessed to one of the robberies.

Alfred Montano, 25, has been identified as a "person of interest" in the crimes but has been arrested on a separate warrant.

The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office is seeking help in identifying a man who robbed Adolfo's, 2450 Santa Fe Dr., on Jan. 17.

"Witnesses described the suspect as being approximately 6 foot tall, wearing a black ski mask, black jacket, black gloves, black pants and black shoes," a press release said. "When investigators reviewed the surveillance videos, they observed that the suspect's jacket had unique patches on both arms and the suspects face was not covered outside of the restaurant." Sgt. Eric Gonzales of the Pueblo Police Department said the rash of robberies -- more than a dozen since then end of 2012 -- could be the work of individuals or a group of suspects.

The good news, Gonzales said, is the suspects have not scored big in their heists, usually hitting late at night when minimal cash was on hand. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 542-7867.
