BRIEF: Mentor fair set for Monday at the Omni

The United Way-Thomas Jefferson Area is looking for a few good mentors.
Building on a tradition that began in 2009, representatives from 13 area service organizations will gather from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the Omni Charlottesville Hotel in downtown Charlottesville to lobby would-be volunteers.
"So many people hear about these groups and say, 'I should do that,' but they never pick up the phone," said Kim Connolly, vice president of marketing and communications for the local United Way. "This is a great opportunity for people to find a way to get involved -- and there are so many different options."

"People who come to this leave feeling more connected to their community," Connolly said. "Come sign up to get more information. No commitment required."
